Inheritance FAIL

[caption id="attachment_2639" align="alignleft" width="426" caption="Oh, these steps can be salvaged..."][/caption] The news broadcast last Thursday night detailed an Altona, IL man was now homeless due to a trailer fire. Oh, the devastation! Oh, the carnage! Oh, the humanity! Homelessness in these trying economic times will often tug at the heartstrings and that’s the stuff that sells. Who cares about such trivialities like fact-checking? Fact-checking can only lead to weeding out falsehoods – falsehoods like that trailer wasn’t located in Altona or falsehoods like that trailer being owned by a couple and not an individual man or falsehoods that the couple is now without a home.

[caption id="attachment_2640" align="alignright" width="426" caption="and this pipe..."][/caption]That trailer was located many miles away, near Oak Run, and it sits on old strip mining property that’s been converted to a more natural habitat for all manner of wildlife. That trailer was owned by my grandparents who placed it there so they wouldn’t have to drive back and forth to their house when they wanted to get away from the big city hustle & bustle of Galesburg, IL. – a redneck summer-home if you will.

[caption id="attachment_2641" align="alignleft" width="426" caption="... and this water bottle, and that\'s all I need."][/caption]The insurance adjuster verified that there was no evidence of foul play involved in the fire. No one broke in to use it as a meth lab as has been occurring with increasing frequency in that area lately. Honestly, with as much rain as they had in the area at the time, I’m surprised that anything could burn. I guess that’s just a trailer for you – easily flammable and often kite-like during tornado season. My grandparents will more than likely be building a house in that location now and moving to be closer to my parents. Feel free to mark that one down in the “believe it when I see it” column if you like.

Of All The Abominations

… Microsoft has loosed ‘pon this mortal coil, Songsmith has got to be at or near the top. The concept is simple: sing into a microphone and Songsmith will build a song around it (see the final video below for the commercial). Then again, can you blame the software for the evils perpetrated by humanity? Blame the craftsman? Blame the tool? Blame the tool maker for providing such an awful tool? Download the demo and decide for yourself (fair warning – that page takes so long to load it might not be worth the effort).

This is what started all the “rage”.
